Without

If I left you

Would you feel the empty indent of my body

As you pulled off the covers

And began a new day

The curtains would hang

And the sunlight weigh down

On my turning collar

Walking nowhere but away

If I left you

Would the meaning of my verses ricochet

As you turned on the element

And reached for your eggs

The carpet would stay

And the breezes pass by

On my turning collar

Walking nowhere but away

We both know

That it has always been your house

I am only a tenant

I never can stay

I just wonder what remains

Of what I am to you

As I'm turning my collar

Walking nowhere but away
